The second design of the Arado Ar E.381 came about because of the
impossibility of the pilot entry/exit once the fighter was connected with
its carrier aircraft. A new cockpit was developed with a side entrance
and a Walter HWK 109-509B rocket engine with a cruise burner was added.
Instead of a Mk 108 30mm cannon, RZ 73 spin-stabilized rockets were to
be fired from the wing leading edge.
